Oberhof council informs on the ski sports center, offers information on snow levels by phone and online.

Close to the Rennsteig trail you can ski at Skiarena Silbersattel in Steinach, slopes go downhill 30%, you find toboggan runs and cross country skiing trails.

You can also get information on the slopes near the Rennsteig trail, on snow levels and cross country skiing trails including a webcam from Masserberg.

In Ilmenau you learn to ski on the rolling hills of the Goethe trail.
