In Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park you combine wellness, the discovery of nature with sightseeing: Enjoy yourself on a hiking vacation , on a bicycle tour or on a canoe trip to historical sites, the pilgrimage churches of the Catholic Eichsfeld, castles, palaces, cloisters and museums, brine and thermal spas. On the Nature Park Hiking Trail from Bad Heiligenstadt to Creuzburg you walk on the ridges of the Eichsfeld, along impressive slope forests and juniper tree heaths. On a canoe trip from Creuzburg to Eschwege, you discover the steep rock walls of the Werra Valley. Along the Unstrut river you walk through the most northern wine growing region of Europe. The trails built along the Werra river are ideal for cycling and inline skating. You discover the largest stretch of deciduous mixed forest in Europe on the plateau of Hainich National Park. Between the Werra, Unstrut and Leine rivers the Nature Park covers an area of 335 square miles between Eisenach in the South, Heiligenstadt in the North, Creuzburg, Mihla, Treffurt, Wanfried, Eschwege, Bad Sooden-Allendorf in the West and Bad Langensalza, Muehlhausen, Dingelstaedt, Leinefelde and Worbis in the East. The 'Alternative Bear Park' in Worbis accommodates bears and wolves. You relax in the brine baths and thermal spas of Heiligenstadt and Langensalza or in the Leinefelde indoor swimming pool's sports and family center. Hainich National Park is part of the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park. The Nature Park aims at achieving a balance between regional development, nature and tourism.
