City Breaks: Muehlhausen
Travel with Johann Sebastian Bach & Thomas Muentzer

In 1707, 22 year old Johann Sebastian Bach went from Arnstadt to Muehlhausen: Johann Sebastian's cousin and wife Maria Barbara was related to a Muehlhausen councillor, the young couple was well received. Johann Sebastian became the organist of the Divii Blasii church.

In Muehlhausen a piece of music composed by Johann Sebastian Bach was printed for the first time: the cantata 'Gott ist mein Koenig'. The pastor of the Marien church, Georg Christian Eilmar, wrote the text of the cantata 'Aus der Tiefe rufe ich'.
