The six-day World Heritage & Wellness Tour is a combination of relaxation in brine baths and thermae, hiking or bicycle tours, city trips, sightseeing and museum visits. On your tour you visit three sites of the Unesco World Heritage. You walk in the footsteps of the composer and musician Johann Sebastian Bach, the theologians and politicians Martin Luther and Thomas Muentzer, the founder of macrobiotics Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland, and the poets Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Novalis and Clemens von Brentano. There are good road and train connections. You can rent bicycles at the German Railways Partner in Muehlhausen. Over night you stay in Muehlhausen - in a hotel, in the youth hostel or on the camping grounds. Day 1: * Hiking or bicycle trip to the Celtic and Germanic Place of Worship in Niederdorla and to Muehlhausen Sightseeing Round trip on top of the town wall, visit of the Peasants' War Museum Relaxation in the Thueringen thermae in Muehlhausen or - in summer - in the Muehlhausen open air swimming pool Return to Seebach by bike, train or taxi Day 2: Day trip by train or car to Erfurt Visit of the historical city center and of the Augustinian cloister, where Martin Luther lived as a monk Day 3: Tour by bike, train, bus or car to the Goldackersche Palace in Weberstedt Hiking trip on the Nature Discovery Trail through the Hainich National Park - you can extend the 2,5 hour round trip in the direction of Thiemsburg as far as you like ** Relaxation either - go by bike, bus or car to Bad Langensalza - in the health resort atmosphere of the brine and thermal bath or - you stay in Weberstedt - in the open air swimming pool of Weberstedt (open from the middle of May to September) Day 4: Day trip by train or car to Eisenach Sightseeing in the historical city center, visit of the house where Johann Sebastian Bach was born Hiking trip to the Wartburg Castle, visit of the room where Martin Luther translated the bible. The Wartburg Castle is part of the Unesco World Heritage Day 5: Visit of the Bird Protection Center in the Moated Castle in Seebach Trip to Gotha by train or car Visit of the collections in Friedenstein Palace Visit of the ancestral home of the Bach family in Wechmar Trip to Bad Langensalza by train or car In Langensalza the poet Novalis fell in love with 12 year old Sophie von Kuehn, the poet Klopstock worked as a private tutor and the poet Clemens von Brentano spent a terrible time as an apprentice. The founder of macrobiotics, Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland, was born in Langensalza. Relaxation - in health resort atmosphere - in the brine and thermal baths. Day 6: Day trip to Weimar Visit of the sites of Classical Weimar and of the Weimar Bauhaus Hiking trip along the palaces and gardens on the Ilm river The sites of Classical Weimar and the Bauhaus are part of the Unesco World Heritage. Plan your days spontaneously. Sunshine or rain, the tour offers activities in any weather. *Tip: On Saturdays or Sundays the remarkable historical councillors' room of the time of the peasants' war in the town hall of Muehlhausen is open to visitors. **The distance between Thiemsburg and Bad Langensalza is 7.2 miles, there is a special bus for hikers on summer weekends and bank holidays top of page << |
