documenta 12, 2007 in Kassel

Since 1955 the international art exhibition documenta has been taking place every four or five years in different places and exhibition halls in Kassel. Documenta offers a great overview of contemporary international art trends and themes. The center of the exibition is the museum Fridericianum, opened in 1779 at Kassel's Karlsaue park and the documenta hall, erected in 1992 in a side street of Friedrichsplatz square. In 2007 there will be an additional exhibition hall in front of the Karlsaue Orangerie, Schloss Wilhelmshoehe palace and its mountain park will be part of the exhibition.
