You arrive at Hainich National Park via Eisenach, Muehlhausen, Seebach, or Bad Langensalza

by train or by car.

In 2004 the Thuringian Geographical Institute has published a new topographical map including hiking and cycling trails "Southern Eichsfeld - Hainich - Werratal". You can order the map for 6,50 Euro from the Thuringian Geographical Institute in Erfurt:

By Train

Train connections go via Fulda, Goettingen, Kassel, or Erfurt to Eisenach, Muehlhausen, Seebach, Bad Langensalza.

There are regular bus connections from Eisenach, Muehlhausen or Bad Langensalza to the small towns and villages around Hainich National Park: Nazza, Mihla, Lauterbach, Bischofrode, Berka v. d. Hainich, Eigenrieden, Pfafferode, Kammerforst, Huetscheroda, Craula, Zimmern, Oberdorla, Langula, Grossenlupnitz, Heyerode, Muelverstedt, Weberstedt, Behringen.

From Behringen, there are bus connections to Gotha.

On summer weekends and bank holidays, there is an additional hikers bus service. Timetables are available at the National Park Administration Office in Bad Langensalza.

By Car

The most comfortable way to drive through Germany is via the "Autobahn"-system linking major cities. You get an overview of the signs and numbers used by clicking into www.autobahn-online.de.

From Frankfurt, take the "Autobahn", direction Kassel, for Eisenach, Muehlhausen, Seebach, Bad Langensalza. At the "Kirchheimer Dreieck" you turn onto the "Autobahn", direction Berlin. For Muehlhausen, Seebach and Bad Langensalza leave the motorway at Eisenach.

From Berlin you take the "Autobahn", direction Leipzig, Muenchen. At the "Hermsdorfer Kreuz" you turn into the "Autobahn", direction Erfurt, Eisenach, Frankfurt. For Muehlhausen, Seebach and Bad Langensalza you leave the motorway at Gotha.
