Celtic Tour: Glauberg

From Frankfurt, you reach the Celtic Road within 0:30 to 1:00 hour

by train or by car.

Bad Nauheim lies between Frankfurt and Giessen. You find the Glauberg mountain east of Bad Nauheim in the Wetterau region, the Altkoenig mountain between Kronberg and Oberursel, and the Heidetraenk Oppidum in Oberursel-Hohemark in Taunus north-west of Frankfurt.

You will find maps of the area in Frankfurt bookshops. You can also buy a map of Bad Nauheim, Friedberg and surroundings, including hiking and cycling trails, from a German bookseller via Abebooks UK or Abebooks US/Canada.

By Train

From Frankfurt Main Station regular Regional Express Trains go to Glauburg village and to Bad Nauheim. Plan for circa one hour to go to Glauburg village and half an hour to go to Bad Nauheim.

The Altkoenig mountain and the Heidetraenk Oppidum near Oberursel-Hohemark are within the reach of Frankfurt S- and U-Trains. You take the S-Train S4 to Kronberg from Frankfurt Konstablerwache, Hauptwache or the Hauptbahnhof Main Station, Oberursel-Hohemark is the last stop of the U-Train U3.

By Car

Plan for about half an hour from Frankfurt to Bad Nauheim. You take the "Autobahn", direction Giessen, Kassel.

To the Altkoenig mountain near Kronberg you drive from Frankfurt in about half an hour via "Nordwestkreuz", Lorscher Strasse, past Eschborn and Schwalbach. To Oberursel you follow Eckenheimer Landstrasse and turn into the A661 motorway.

To Glauburg village and the Glauberg mountain, you take the motorway A 66 from Frankfurt to Hanau, at the "Hanauer Kreuz" you turn into the A 45, direction Giessen. Take the exit at Altenstadt and continue in the direction of Buedingen. Plan for circa 40 minutes from Frankfurt.

Direct, the country road B 521 takes you via Nidderau and Altenstadt to Glauburg village.
