(Creuzburg, Mihla, Treffurt, Wanfried, Eschwege, Bad-Sooden Allendorf, Witzenhausen, Hannoversch Muenden) or

the Eichsfeld
(Heilbad Heiligenstadt, Leinefelde and Worbis).

In 2004 the Thuringian Geographical Institute has published a new topographical map including hiking and cycling trails "Southern Eichsfeld - Hainich - Werratal". The map "Northern Eichsfeld" dates from 2003. You can order the maps for 6,50 Euro each from the Thuringian Geographical Institute in Erfurt:

By Train and by Bus

There are good train connections to Eisenach, Muehlhausen, Seebach, Bad Langensalza, Hannoversch Muenden, Heiligenstadt and Leinefelde.

Trains go via Fulda, Goettingen, Kassel, or Erfurt.

You reach the Werra River at Creuzburg, Mihla, Treffurt via Eisenach.

You arrive in Eschwege and Wanfried via Goettingen, Kassel or Fulda.

There is a bus from Worbis to Leinefelde.

By Car

The most comfortable way to drive through Germany is via the "Autobahn"-system linking major cities. You get an overview of the signs and numbers used by clicking into www.autobahn-online.de.

From Frankfurt, you reach Eisenach, Muehlhausen, Seebach, Bad Langensalza by taking the "Autobahn", direction Kassel. At the "Kirchheimer Dreieck", you turn into the "Autobahn", direction Berlin. To go to Muehlhausen, Seebach and Bad Langensalza, you take the "Autobahn" exit near Eisenach.

From Berlin, you take the "Autobahn", direction Leipzig, Muenchen. At the "Hermsdorfer Kreuz", you turn into the "Autobahn", direction Erfurt, Eisenach, Frankfurt. To arrive at Muehlhausen, Seebach and Bad Langensalza, you take the "Autobahn" exit near Gotha.

From Frankfurt, you reach the Werra Valley at Creuzburg, Mihla, Treffurt via Eisenach. To arrive in Eschwege and Wanfried, you follow the "Autobahn" from Frankfurt to Kassel, at the "Kirchheimer Dreieck", you take the exit at Bad Hersfeld. To reach Hannoversch Muenden and Heiligenstadt, you continue on the "Autobahn" from Kassel to Hannover.

From Berlin, you take the "Autobahn", direction Hannover, at Braunschweig, you turn into the "Autobahn", direction Goettingen, Kassel.
