Wiesbaden is a spa and civil service town, in the center the Quellenviertel - district of the sources - overlaps with the former town palace, today the home of the parliament of Hesse, and the old council house. You can go shopping in noble Wilhelmstrasse, enjoy a coffee in the street cafes, you find good restaurants here and hotels boasting a thermal source of their own, spa house and casino next door.
Warning: The casino wins always. In 1865 Fiodor M. Dostoevsky lost 3000 gold rubel here, less known gamblers have been losing more than that. Wiesbaden's casino claim they caused Dostoievsky to write "The Gambler" in 26 days to make up for the loss.
